East Coast Plumbing and Gas

Your Sustainable Homes Partner

We’re working in partnership with Hawke’s Bay Regional Council to make it easier for you to enjoy a Sustainable Home.

The Hawke’s Bay Regional Council Sustainable Homes Programme aims to make the region healthier and more energy efficient.

What is a Sustainable Home?

Sustainable homes are healthier homes. The Council is focused on helping homeowners in Hawke’s Bay to add clean energy sources – like gas or solar power – to their homes so that they can enjoy clean, dry heat when they need it most.

Increased energy efficiency not only makes it more affordable to heat your home properly, it also looks after the environment. The focus on clean, efficient energy sources will help the population of Hawke’s Bay to stay healthy and warm without wasting natural resources. Clean energy sources will also improve air quality and help to reduce pollution from fuel sources like coal and wood.

Gas heaters like the one pictured are energy efficient and provide a dry, clean source of heat.

East Coast Plumbing and Gas can also help you explore your funding options for converting to gas hot water.

If you have an existing electric hot water cylinder then you might also be able to access funding to switch to gas. Gas hot water heating is more efficient and uses less energy as you only pay to heat your water when you need it, without the cost of storing it and maintaining it at the right temperature just in case. East Coast Plumbing and Gas can also help you explore your funding options for converting to gas hot water.

If you’re planning to install a gas fire, heater or central heating, you may qualify for funding at a low interest rate. This funding is available to ratepayers and can be paid off by direct debit as part of your rates bill over 10 years (subject to lending criteria and terms and conditions). If you are replacing an open fire or non-compliant wood burning stove, you may also be eligible for a one-off grant.
